On 21 May 1895 at the age of 15, Louis Hüsing sailed from Hamburg, Germany via Le Harve, France on the SS California bound for the United States.

A Petition for Naturalization was signed that same day with Testimony of Reference signed by August Husing, 910 Union Street, Brooklyn, occupation Steward, citizen of the United States, “Brother”, who swore he had know Louis “all his life”.

In this same document, Louis stated that he also lived at 910 Union Street in Brooklyn and since arriving in June of 1895 he had also resided in: Missouri, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, while living continuously for one year in the state of New York since July 1905.
